CELEBRATE TUNBRIDGE WELLS FOOD MONTH


There’s no better way to enjoy harvest time here in the heart of the Garden of England than to visit Tunbridge Wells throughout September to indulge in some of the very best food and drink on offer when a stellar line-up of local food producers, restaurants, pop-ups and pubs will be laying on an array of sumptuous food, drink and speciality wares. For the past few years,


there has been a renaissance in artisan food and drink producers throughout Kent and Tunbridge Wells has fast become a magnet for lovers of all things food and drink. From award-winning


vineyards, eating fresh fi sh or game or enjoying superb independent restaurants, to gin and beer bars and afternoon tea – to name but a few – in the space of four weeks, the historic spa town is hosting two Food Festivals, four markets and a beer weekend. Oyster shucking and foraging masterclasses as well as restaurants offering promotions, special menus and deals will all be too irresistible. Here are some dates to whet your appetite. The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning – 27th September Gather your fellow coffee and tea drinkers – and cake lovers – and sign up to host a Coffee Morning to help raise vital funds for people living with cancer.


Back for its 29th year on 27th September, Macmillan Cancer Support’s much-loved World’s Biggest Coffee Morning will be returning to homes, workplaces, communities and schools up and down the entire country.

Aspiring pastry chefs set to battle it out


Three dedicated fi nalists from Kent of the Julia Child Scholarship by Le Cordon Bleu will be one step closer to discovering the winner at the fi nals taking place on 16th September at the institute in London’s Bloomsbury Square.


Katie-Poppy Inskip from Sutton Valence, Renuka Lassalle from Tunbridge Wells and Kirsty Massa from Sandwich are among a total of 16 dedicated aspiring pastry chefs and food entrepreneurs who will battle it out for the prize worth more than £40,000, to be presented by esteemed Le Cordon Bleu alumna, Mary Berry.
