A Christmas Story Route 66 & Pontiac RS


The history of Route 66 still intrigues so many. See images of the road’s wonderful history, and hear a few great stories about life in America when Route 66 was the most important highway in the nation. The Old Log Cabin Restaurant, on Historic U.S. 66 will serve us a delicious home-cooked meal in the quaint dining room. After lunch visit Pontiac Oakland Auto Museum, centrally located on Route 66. It offers rotating exhibits to ensure a new and exciting experience each time you stop in. As the only Pontiac-Oakland museum in the world, hundreds of pieces of memorabilia alongside the selection of cars are displayed. For those who are not interested in cars there are a variety of free museums and shopping. There is also self-guided walking tour of murals both historical and beautiful. So much to see and learn, be glad you joined us. Trip includes tour guide, lunch, and transportation.

Remembering Marshall Field’s at Christmas

The Jacob Henry Mansion Landmark was built in 1873, and is known for its original beauty and old Victorian charm. Today’s Holiday luncheon is a choice of 1)Chicken Pot Pie with cinnamon apple and pear salad, 2)Pot Roast with chef’s choice of starch and vegetable, or 3) vegetarian option. Please indicate choice when you register. Enjoy the traditional ambiance and feel of Marshall Field’s ‘Walnut Room’ in Joliet’s own Gathering Room with its own 26-foot fully decorated Christmas tree. For many, no Christmas season was complete without a visit to Marshall Field’s, the city’s grande dame of department stores. An illustrated presentation by Leslie Goddard traces the store’s beloved holiday traditions, including the Walnut Room Christmas tree, the holiday window displays, the toy department, Cozy Cloud Cottage, and the Christmas catalog! Finish our day at the Old Central Church, a classic example of grand churches in the late 1800s, where Marshall Field IV was married on May 12, 1950! After a self-guided tour, enjoy an Organ Concert on the magnificent 2200 bellow pipe organ. Trip includes transportation, lunch and entertainment.
