Batavia History Trolley Tours JP


Take a ride on the Park District’s historic open-air trolley while experiencing a guided tour of Batavia’s History! Tours last 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic, and we will deliver you back to the Depot in time to visit the exhibits at your leisure. The Batavia Historical Society and Batavia Library Foundation invite the community to be part of the 150th anniversary of Mark Twain’s visit to Batavia. This historical reenactment, featuring Chicago’s internationally acclaimed Richard Henzel as Samuel L. Clemens, is an educational and entertaining event which celebrates our past. Join us to celebrate ‘The Year of Mark Twain in Batavia!’

History Heroes: I Dig Batavia History JP Ages 6-10


Kids, grab your trowels and come on down to the Depot Museum to learn a bit about archaeology. Practice what you’ve learned by digging up your own artifacts, and make your own display in the museum! Please bring a snack for the afternoon.

Light Up the Bank Starting October 1, the public can help make the Depot Museum a little brighter this holiday season by purchasing a bulb as part of the “Light Up the Bank” fundraising campaign that benefits the Depot Museum Expansion Project. Bulbs are $10 each or three for $25. With each gift, a paper bulb with the donor’s name or the name of your choice will be hung inside the Depot Museum between now and the December 1 Celebration of Lights Festival.


The official lighting of the Coffin Bank, Batavia’s first bank which was established by William Coffin in 1856, will be at 6:00 pm during the Celebration of Lights festival. Bulbs can be purchased at the Batavia Depot Museum or at bataviahistoricalsociety.org.
