GREENWICH PENINSULA

GCSE FIELDWORK FOR YEAR 10 STUDENTS Y

ear 10 Geography students visited the Greenwich Peninsula this term, to collect important fieldwork in preparation for their GCSE exam.

Students were collecting primary data to find out how successful urban

regeneration has been in the area. This meant conducting environmental quality surveys and interviewing members of the public.

They also had a chance to observe the scale of the regeneration first hand by taking a flight on the Emirates cable car across the river Thames.

To complete the trip, students visited The Crystal. This is a sustainable cities initiative by Siemens. The Crystal is home to the world’s largest exhibition on the future of cities, as well as being one of the world’s most sustainable buildings.

Welcoming Dutch Students on International Exchange Programme

A

t the end of the Spring Term, we welcomed a cohort of twenty- four Dutch students and their

accompanying teachers to spend half a drop down day with our Year 10s at AGFS. This was the second visit for our international exchange programme which looks to broaden our horizons and reach out to institutions far and wide.

The students were split amongst the four Year 10 houses and competed alongside our Year 10 students. They participated in the art and PE house competitions raising the bar and showing off their art skills.

Joshua Bailey, one of the pupils involved in this experience: “Meeting more international students was fun. When the Chinese students came last time I wanted to be involved. So this time I was glad to show the students around and it was great to meet new people”

The teachers commented on our exemplary culture and high standards. Miss Reddy, who arranged the experience, was once again very proud of all who were involved and is committed to maintain these international links.

“Wij hopen u spoedig te zien” – We hope to see you again soon.
