PROM NIGHT O

YEAR 11

ur Year 11 students celebrated their time at Ark Greenwich Free School at their prom, held at the

Tudor Barn in Eltham. The prom was an exceptional finale for our students and they thoroughly enjoyed the celebrations, creating life-long memories and receiving ‘awards’ on the evening.

The students made a huge effort with their presentation and looked fabulous. Staff were astounded to see so many tucked in shirts and properly fixed ties!

A special mention should go to Emma Lovegrove, parent of Charlie, who made and donated the incredible Prom cake that was shared by all.

The prom can sometimes be considered a bittersweet evening, as on one hand we are celebrating our amazing Year 11 students; but conversely the occasion marks the end of their time at AGFS which evokes a degree of sadness - as they have been a pleasure to teach over the years.

We wish Year 11 every success in their future endeavours and look forward to seeing them all on results days on Thursday 22nd

August 2019. We are

certain that we’ll be celebrating with them on that day too.

ASPIRATIONS AGFS

EVENING A

rk Greenwich Free School held their inaugural Aspirations Evening on Thursday 13th

June. Year 10 students met and interviewed 49 professionals from a wide

sector of industries: accountants, traders, doctors, people who work in recruitment, lawyers, radio, finance, actors, writers, teachers, civil servants, IT, gaming industries and film. The students were not out of place at all, as they interviewed these professionals with confidence, articulated themselves formally and professionally and had the most impressive manners when greeting our guests. Not surprisingly the professionals were blown away by our Year 10s and rightly so. It was a complete success and continues to showcase to our community what a unique and wonderful place AGFS is.

When asked about the evening, Romy & Rhainnon (10H) commented,

“We found the evening to be a really great experience for building our confidence, as we were expected to have engaging conversations with the professionals about their areas of expertise. It helped us to make connections outside of our usual circles and to discover more about careers that we were unfamiliar with and may not have previously considered. It also helped us to become firmer with our possible career choices and to better understand what it would mean to do a particular job. Overall the night prepared us for our futures beyond education, and broadened our horizons to the possibilities of many potential careers”.
