NEWS FROM THE RNLI LIFEBOAT TEAM IN DARTMOUTH RNLI Dart Lifeboat week. Thursday 1 August to Monday 5 August


Our planned events will be: FLAG DAY Thursday 1 August If you are able to hold a collecting box for an hour please contact Lizzie Helyer, RNLI Fundraising Trea- surer, using the Contact us link on the station web site – see below.


RAFT RACE Saturday 3 August Unfortunately, this has had to be cancelled. The Raft race in Regatta IS STILL GOING AHEAD.


DEDICATION AND NAMING CEREMONY OF D838 at 2pm Sunday 4 August on Coronation Park. The donor will hand over the new lifeboat( to replace Spirit of The Dart - see below) to a senior representative of the RNLI who will then present her to RNLI Dart. The boat will then be named Dudley


Jane by Mrs Fuller, the Donor in memory of her Aunt, before being blessed by the RNLI Dart Chaplain. The BRNC RN Volunteer Band will be playing during the ceremony and afterwards. Invited guests will be seated in a roped off area in front of the boathouse and will receive a cream tea after the ceremony. The general public are invited to attend and will be able to see and hear all that is going on from outside the roped off area.


RNLI FETE Monday 5 August from 10am to 4pm in the Royal Avenue Gardens. The new lifeboat will be on display by the Band- stand. If you can provide bottles for the Tombola please deliver them in the previous week to the RNLI Visitor Centre on the South


Embankment. Cakes for the Cake stall and slicing cake for the tea hut can be brought on the day but any that would stay fresh for a couple of days can be delivered to the RNLI Visitor Centre between the Friday and Sunday before. Surplus vegetables, fruit or good specimens of garden plants can be brought on the day. There will also be a produce stall this year so homemade pickles, jams etc. will be most welcome. There will be plenty of other stalls as well as things for the children to join in with.
