Anoki charity dinner raises £55,000 for KORT


A fundraising dinner staged at Anoki fine dining Indian restaurant in Derby has raised £55,000 for the Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT). More than 200 guests


attended the event to raise funds for the charity, which was established in 2005 following the devastating earthquake which hit the Kashmir region of Pakistan, taking 87,000 lives. The £55,000 raised at the


Anoki charity dinner takes the total raised by the Derby community since 2005 to more than half a million pounds. Future plans include building sustainable projects so KORT can become self-sufficient. Naveed Khaliq, owner of


Anoki, said: “KORT is a fantastic charity; the work the team do is life-changing, and we are honoured to support its fundraising at Anoki Derby. “To raise £55,000 in a single


afternoon is an incredible achievement – the funds raised will help to build better lives for the children in Kashmir and we look forward to working with Ali and the KORT team again.”


Donations top £25m as charity marks 21 years


A Nottinghamshire charitable foundation has marked its 21st anniversary by announcing a new set of priorities to help the most important causes across the county. The Nottinghamshire


Community Foundation, which has given out over £25m to hundreds of community causes since 1998, ensures donations and legacies from individuals, families, companies and trusts find their way to local charities which do essential work in the community. Chairman Paddy Tipping said:


“It’s a tremendous milestone to reach, especially as we’ve been able to give out many donations to those smaller charities and community groups working across the city, towns and villages for causes and services in the greatest need.” CEO Nina Dauban added:


“We’re looking to progress even further and help create even better foundations for our future – you might look at the top line but we are looking at the bottom line. “We want to see Notts lead


the way in caring for our vulnerable people, young and old, and to that end we are dependent on donations and local legacies to help us create the communities we wish to live and work in.”

Digital agency hops to help mental health charity


Local digital marketing and web design agency Frogspark has teamed up with Derby-based mental health organisation HeadHigh, to assist the charity in reaching more people in need. Frogspark is providing £8,000 of


digital support including an improved website and an upweighted marketing campaign. The not for profit charity, which helps people who struggle with mental health issues and their families, is one that Frogspark feels passionately about. Speaking of the partnership,


which was announced during Mental Health Awareness Week, Rob Twells, Managing Director, said: “We are working together to help battle the stigma surrounding mental health, raising awareness by working within the community on various different projects that make a real difference to people’s lives. “Having been personally affected


by mental health, I couldn’t be happier that the Frogspark team are supporting HeadHigh, which is making such a difference to the local community.” Amanda Solloway, Director of


fellow Chamber member HeadHigh,


said: “HeadHigh was set up to support the local community by putting mental health at the forefront of people’s minds. Working with Frogspark will enable us to reach a much wider audience and champion awareness.” The partnership announcement


comes as Frogspark celebrates a successful start to the year, growing its team by three and


winning several large scale web design projects across the region. Rob added: “With the


appointment of a designer and two new developers, we are working hard to grow our team in order to open up even bigger and more ambitious opportunities. This expansion has also allowed us to take on pro bono projects such as the work with HeadHigh.”


Fundraisers strut their stuff


Friends, families, and fitness fanatics of Derbyshire joined intu Derby to strut their stuff across the city to raise funds for Treetops Hospice Care at this year’s Starlight Strut. The centre was one of the lead


sponsors for this year’s charity walk, which saw women, men and children of all ages take on a 5k or 10k sponsored stroll throughout the night. The event took place on 17 May,


with participants donning their best and brightest fancy dress outfits for this year’s theme, ‘Street Carnival’, taking to the streets in their most fabulous feathers, glitter and gems. All entrants also received a


special Starlight Strut t-shirt to wear, and a finisher’s medal after crossing the finishing line. As well as sponsoring this year’s


event, intu Derby also showed its support with several staff members and store teams taking part in the walk itself, as well as donating prizes to raffles and staff volunteering on the night. Carly Salisbury, Marketing Manager at intu Derby, said: “We were delighted to be sponsoring
