An excellent performance from Gateley is celebrated

Trading in the second half of the financial year has remained strong for Gateley, the law-led professional services group. In an update the firm, which has offices in

revenue streams through complementary acquisitions. Our teamwork has again delivered another year of strong momentum and investment as we approach 1,000 employees and have successfully integrated further strategic acquisitions, including our new Guildford office location, into the growing Gateley Group. Our national reach, built on our already well balanced business, creates further exciting opportunities for future expansion. “We look forward to the future with confidence.”

IN BRIEF

The tech industry needs support from the region

Andy Wallace, CEO of The Robot Exchange – a fast-growing tech business based in the East Midlands, spoke passionately recently about how a local region’s support can both energise but also stimulate success in the tech industry. He was speaking at The Mansion House, in London. The Robot Exchange’s focus is

on delivering robot automation for clients using its Robots as a Service (RaaS) model. This enables clients to benefit from all the efficiencies of robotic automation technology without having to make the significant investment in skilled staff and licensing. The Robot Exchange makes that investment on behalf of all its clients, enabling them to pay less. Lisburn and Castlereagh

councils have both agreed, through Invest NI, to part-fund the company’s Lisburn Innovation Centre and Andy was fulsome in the praise of the support. He said: “The biggest surprise

has been the loyalty of the businesses based in Northern Ireland with wanting to engage in a tech business that benefits the local area.” Operating in the East Midlands,

the group has a plan to start to build its non-tech practice out of its Nottingham Office.

Army gets new training recruit

A Derbyshire training and development business has been recruited to design and deliver specialist training for the British Armed Forces over the next three years. At Peak Development, based in

Derby, was approached to help design and deliver a Cultural Adviser course for the joint force Defence Cultural Specialist Unit. The course is aimed at developing

experienced servicemen from across all three armed services to prepare them for operational duties abroad, with the timescales very short for a course of this depth. Andy Walker, Development

Consultant and owner of At Peak Development, is no stranger to the Armed Forces having served 29 years in the Royal Navy, and currently works with the Command Leadership and Management

Training Team of the Royal Naval Reserves. Andy said: “To be invited to help

create and deliver innovative cultural training for teams from all three services is an honour and an experience few businesses get the opportunity to do. It is also refreshing that the military looked beyond its own training organisation for support and expertise.”

Pickerings, the fast-growing provider of modular buildings and portable cabins, has opened a new four-acre depot in Moulton Park, Northampton. The site represents a multi- million-pound investment with modern facilities consisting of a newly constructed office and workshop with a large storage yard. The depot is on the site of the former Plastmo plastic goods factory in Lower Farm Road that had stood empty for over ten years before being demolished. The new depot will hold a

large stock of the company’s range of portable accommodation to provide a quicker response to customer requirements and enable the company to take on more major projects. Pickerings Managing Director,

Neil Moss, said: “Our new depot is one of several we are opening across the country. We have seen a big rise in demand for our modular buildings and portable accommodation which, we believe, is due to the high quality of our products and customer service.”
