( advertising feature ) Win a lesson with Advanced event rider Ben Way
Equestrian Surface market leader, Equestrian Direct, is giving away a lesson with Advanced eventer, Ben Way, via the arena specialist’s facebook page: www.facebook/equestriandirectltd
The lessons, to be held at Ben’s yard near Rugby in Warwickshire, will be part of a series of four lessons spread over the event season, and aimed at helping Midland’s based eventers achieve their 2019 ambitions.
Equestrian Direct sponsored rider, Ben, juggles a full-time job along-side his string of event horses, working full-time for Estate Agents, Butler Sherborn as Head of the Equestrian Property Department. Having competed at Badminton three times, as well as other International CCI 5*- L events such as Les étoiles de Pau and Land Rover Burghley (previously CCI 4*), Warwickshire-born Ben has been around horses all his life. From hunting at a young age, to taking part in pony club events and teams for North Warwickshire, Ben also completed five seasons as a point to point jockey before focusing solely on eventing.
This year, Ben has an exciting string of horses who will be aimed at everything from young horse classes to the newly classified CCI 5*- L level, including Equestrian Direct owned, Direct Cruz, who was placed in all three of his 4YO outings last year, and will be running at BE100 and 5YO classes level this year.
The lesson will take place on Ben’s Flexiride surface with Equitex- Drain System Membrane. The low-cost drainage membrane works without the need for drainage ditches or a stone base and can be placed directly onto a mown grass area, saving on labour and material costs.
Ben says: “We work at least 12 horses a day on our Equestrian Direct surface. We are very pleased with it, and how well the horses move and perform it.”
Equestrian Direct has over 30 years of industry experience, offering a wide range of long-lasting and high-performing arena surfaces, to suit all disciplines and budgets. Whether for leisure, professional or commercial use, Equestrian Direct’s two bestselling surfaces, TurfFloat and Flexiride are suitable for most equestrian disciplines, indoor and outdoor arenas, and gallops.
Flexiride, widely recognised as the best all-in-one area surface on the market, can be used on top of sand, as a top-up to existing surfaces, or entirely on its own - laid directly onto a simple drainage/stone layer, eliminating the need for groundwork drainage, membranes and sand.
Ideal for most equestrian disciplines, Flexiride’s high impact absorbency provides exceptional ‘cushioning’ qualities with a secure ride, enhancing natural athleticism and reducing the potential for injury. It is virtually maintenance free and environmentally friendly, suitable for use in all weathers, Flexiride does not easily freeze, blow, puddle or rot.
Performance surface TurfFloat, provides secure footing and even hoof support, allowing horses travel across the top of the surface, instead of through it. An ideal surface for Show Jumping, TurfFloat has minimal kick back and surface movement, decreasing the energy lost, and improving performance.
Made from synthetic fibres, TurfFloat has been designed to closely replicate the natural qualities of turf, mimicking the binding ability of top soil. The fibres provide an element of life from the surface, preventing the sand from riding ‘dead’.
TurfFloat can be used on both indoor and outdoor arenas, as well as gallops, either as a complete surface or as a top-up. TurfFloat has previously been the surface of choice or both Olympic, and World Equestrian Games.
