orn on a working farm with her mother running a livery yard, it is perhaps no surprise that Ginny is now a respected name in the equestrian world. “My sister is horsey and being ten years older than me had been through Pony Club and evented. I was fortunate to land on my feet with all her outgrown ponies”, says Ginny. “My sister had a 12.2hh Welsh pony called Princess that when she outgrew, I started Pony Club on.” Ginny enjoyed her childhood riding several makes and models of passed down ponies. “I did a lot of Pony Club and loved my


showjumping”, recalls Ginny. “Then along came our homebred, Alpine Express that my sister had evented up to intermediate.” Alpine Express was Ginny’s break and the partnership went on to successfully compete at the Pony Club Championships. “He has only just leſt us”, says Ginny sadly. “He lived out his days on the family farm and reached the grand old age of twenty-nine. He was the horse that took me to my first three-day event at 1* and got us up for selection for the Central JRN team.” As a teenager Ginny knew that she wanted to be a professional


rider, something that her parents tried to initially discourage. “Mum and Dad tried to persuade me to go and get a more sensible job”, laughs Ginny. “I went and attempted an accountancy course, but I lasted only two months I think!” On the farm today, Ginny’s mum runs the livery side of the business, leaving her daughter to train and see to an impressive list of owner’s horses, including her own, homebred showjumpers and
