Law firm among top 100 places to work
For the second time running national law firm and Chamber member Freeths, which has a Derby office and offers practical legal advice and commercial expertise, has been placed in the prestigious Sunday Times’ UK Top 100 Companies to Work in the mid- sized companies category. The results, which are compiled from surveys of staff satisfaction, rank Freeths at number 57 in the list. Freeths has also been successful
in retaining its two-star accreditation from Best Companies, representing an outstanding level of employee engagement. Founder and CEO Jonathan
Austin said: “I would like to congratulate Freeths LLP on being named as one of the UK’s Best Companies to Work for. Best Companies has been producing the accreditation standard since 2006 to acknowledge excellence in the workplace. We are proud that organisations like Freeths focus on their employees and have been rewarded with an engaged workforce who tell us that they’re a best company to work for.” Of the eight factors that were
highlighted by the survey, the legal firm particularly excelled in ‘Giving Something Back’. Freeths places great importance on Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) initiatives, including significant support for local charities and community organisations, which includes significant fundraising activities for its national nominated charity - money raised for The Alzheimer’s Society in 2018 exceeded £50,000. RDS Global scoops employer accolade from Derby College
East Midlands-based IT company, and Chamber patron, RDS Global has been named Employer Academy of the Year at the Derby College Group Academy Awards 2019. The annual event — which took
place recently at Derby’s Roundhouse — sees businesses from across the region come together in recognition of the fantastic work being done by employers to positively impact their local communities.

is awarded to employers working with students as part of Derby College’s innovative Employer Academy programme. “For us, there are few things
more important than giving young people the right tools, training and knowledge for success in future employment,” explained RDS Global’s CEO Andy Flinn. “We are truly honoured to
receive this award.” In addition to winning an award
on the night, RDS Global was also highly commended in the category for helping to bridge the gap between education and employment; enabling students to make the transition into work by encouraging them to develop the necessary skills and confidence. “We’re immensely proud of all
our students and the exceptional ways they continue to apply everything they’ve learned during their placement with RDS,” said Andy.
