David earns promotion to Director at Frontline


Frontline Recruitment has promoted David Essam to Director. David steps up from General


Manager to Operations Director having been with Frontline for over 11 years. Frontline, which has offices in


Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Hull, Mansfield and Weymouth, enjoyed a record-breaking year in 2018, with revenues topping £15m for the first time. The company has also


revealed plans to open a seventh office this year and create five jobs across its offices. David said: “I’d like to thank


everyone at Frontline who have made us the recruitment partner of choice for so many companies across the UK.”


James glides into senior role at internet business


Glide has appointed current Director of Sales and Marketing James Warner as the new Managing Director of its business arm. James was previously at


telecoms giant KCOM for seven years before moving to Glide in 2017 and now embarks on a new challenge within the business to support its expansion plans. Glide Business, an internet


service provider based in the Midlands, previously known as Warwicknet, has grown from local provider to national player, almost tripling its coverage from 34,000 to 100,000 within reach of its fibre network. The business is investing heavily, doubling the number of employees from 40 to over 80 in the past 12 months. James said: “Glide has gone


from strength to strength in the past 12 months, investing heavily in its people, customers and fibre infrastructure, meaning we can continue to deliver superfast and ultrafast services to new locations every day while still delivering the highest customer support and care.”


Nikki takes Chair at local branch of Resolution


Nikki Aston, a family law specialist at the Nottingham office of Buckles Solicitors LLP, has become Chair of the Committee of the Nottingham and East Midlands branch of Resolution. Resolution is a national


organisation of family lawyers committed to non- confrontational divorce, separation and other family problems. It also campaigns on family law issues and the family justice system. It has 6,500 members nationally, and almost 200 in the East Midlands.

Martin helps theatre commit to community


Nottingham Playhouse has appointed Martin Berry (pictured) to the newly-created position of Head of Participation to reflect the theatre’s increasing commitment to accessible and inclusive arts participation work. The theatre’s participation department aims to enrich its range of diverse and ever-growing accessible projects, which take place both at Nottingham Playhouse and in the local communities of Nottinghamshire. Prior to joining the Nottingham


Playhouse, Martin worked as a freelance practitioner, education consultant, project manager and director of theatre and radio for 15


years – spending much of that time working in Nottingham. Martin said: “Theatres, especially


regional theatres, should be places where everybody matters. We have the power to create life-changing experiences and give a voice to local and untold stories. The Playhouse must be accessible, positive and relevant to everyone in our wonderful city. “I look forward very much to


working with the brilliant Playhouse team, meeting as many communities and local people as possible and to building new partnerships as Nottingham Playhouse enters the next stage of its ambitious artistic mission.”


Business community to play greater role in LEP


Five new board members have been announced for the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, significantly boosting its representation from the business community. D2N2 is the private sector-led


Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) of business, local authorities, skills


and training providers, and community and voluntary organisations; promoting economic growth across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. The LEP’s board use their


knowledge to give strategic advice on boosting the D2N2 LEP area’s economy; deciding how and where

it should invest over £500m in resources (via UK Government and European Union funding) to promote business growth, capital projects, better infrastructure, jobs growth, social and community projects, and other services. The five new board members


are: Karen Smart, Managing Director of East Midlands Airport; Viv Russell, Group Managing Director for the Longcliffe Group; Emma Rigler, Logistics and Manufacturing Excellence Leader, Laing O’Rourke; Jayne Mayled, Managing Director of True Story, Nottingham and Graham Cartledge CBE, Chairman of Handley House. The board members were


recruited to join the D2N2 LEP board following an advertisement seeking applications from the private sector, in November, followed by an interview process. The new board members will


begin their roles effective immediately; apart from Jayne Mayled, who will become a board member from this summer. Elizabeth Fagan, Chair of the


D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “I am delighted to welcome such an array of new talent to be D2N2 LEP board members. “We wanted people who’d bring


fresh thinking and new ideas, and who would best reflect the business sectors and communities in our LEP area. I’m confident our new members will be a great asset in dealing with the area’s economic challenges and opportunities in the future.”
