AGFS: CREATIVES Arts THE
Year 10 Clay work & prints from ’Young Artists’
TATE MODERN workshop
O n Sunday 3rd March, a number of Year 11 GCSE art
students and parents attended a workshop at the Tate Modern gallery. The purpose was to provide
further opportunity to research and gain inspiration from a wide range of artists from the last 100 years as the student artists approach the final weeks of their exam preparation time.
Student artists and parents worked together to find artists who linked with students own initial ideas in response to the exam board’s exam theme this year of ‘Reflection’. Student artists then considered ways in which to create their own visual responses both back in the classroom and in their own I.L time.
Mr Pitt, head of art, who held the workshop session said, ‘At such a vital time in the final stages of their art GCSE, these students will be adding vital marks to their assessment objectives as well as refining and shaping their own ideas. This engagement with the subject shows a real desire to achieve and succeed come results day in August and hopefully get into great habits as they further their art studies into 6th
form and beyond’. NEW STAFF Mrs Christopher - Art Teacher M
