Hairspray DRAMA

improved my confidence and if I could give anyone tips from what I’ve learnt it would be: To believe in yourself; Learn your lines bit by bit; Don’t forget to enjoy every second of it because it goes quicker than you’d expect.

Performing in such an exciting, energetic musical was a one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Gonul Ali

When I first auditioned, I didn’t think I was going to get the role of Tracy as my confidence and self-esteem was quite low. Getting this role made me realise I can do anything as long as I have enough passion; ambition; patience, and most of all; confidence. I didn’t know many of the cast but they all supported me as each day passed. I instantly made amazing, long-lasting friends. Having a lead role

It was incredible to be part of hairspray, the sensation of being part of such a professional cast was amazing. My favourite part was ‘Welcome to the Sixties’ because we had to do a 30 second quick change that felt like two, but we managed to do it after many tries! Eitheen Edwards

I felt everyone in Hairspray was really well prepared. They knew what to say and when to say it. The show also had many comedic pieces. The lighting was really well done. When something went wrong they carried on anyway, even when the mics weren’t working. The show was really well planned and put together. The quick changes were great and it was even better the second night. Kayla Judge

Hairspray was the first school play where I was given a principal role, and initially I was very worried about it, as I had my own song, and had never sang on stage before in front of the audience. I genuinely thought I wouldn’t be able to sing as well as I did, and (at first) I wanted to give up. But, thanks to the support of the cast, Mr Sutcliffe and Miss Matthews, I had a phenomenal experience – everybody loved it. On the second night, the applause was astounding; it shocked me so much. It was breathtaking! Valerie Imo
