Disaster Relief


Imagine the shock of finding the world you know has been completely changed in minutes, or even seconds, due to a disaster. The event could be a typhoon, flood, hurricane, mudslide, raging fire, tsunami, or earthquake. On other occasions it might be man-made when civil unrest, ethnic/religious persecution, war, terrorism, health epidemic, or humanitarian crisis leaves families fleeing for safety.


Regardless of the reason, shocked and dazed individuals must pick up the pieces of their lives. Many are left with no home, no clothing, no food, and few resources. Scared and hopeless, they are in desperate need of support, compassion, and a helping hand.


That is why from its earliest days, WME has provided disaster and emergency relief in countries where the unimaginable has happened and people are suffering. Often, WME has continued working in these areas well after the immediate crisis has passed. In some countries, WME’s programs have significantly expanded and still provide help today.


Year after year, WME supporters have shown compassion to strangers living thousands of miles away struggling to survive after a disaster strikes.When emergencies arise, we can work together so that lives are restored and hearts healed through Christ.
