Bookworm Wednesdays Ages 2-4 with adult

Come to the nature center and listen to an exciting nature- themed story! Each week will feature a different book and simple craft and may even include a short hike or a special animal visitor. Each registered child will receive a plush reading buddy to take home at the end of each session. Adults must attend with their child, but do not need to register.

Cave Hike All Ages

Join us on a naturalist led hike to the only cave in the Chicagoland region! Along the way, our staff will stop to point out areas of interest and signs of the season. Dress for the weather- these hikes go snow or shine! Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Spring Break Camp Ages 8-12

Shake off the cold and have some fun at Red Oak during Spring break! If you can’t wait until summer to have some fun, then join us for a week full of hiking, games, survival activities, habitat exploration and more! Campers are required to bring a healthy and energizing snack, lunch, and refillable water bottle in a backpack each day to camp. Dress for being outside every day!

Ages 18+
Join us for a guided morning hike as we discover the changes happening in our forest during the spring thaw. Each date will have participants exploring a different area of Red Oak’s 40+ acres. Our staff will lead the group around our trails while highlighting special areas of interest and allowing the hikers to lead the discussions. Hikes will be on wood chipped trails and on uneven ground. Upon returning from our hike, please enjoy a coffee or tea as we share and record our favorite highlights.
