Welcome Look for
Throwback Programs
Dear Residents:
Anyone who lives in Batavia knows that there is never a dull moment! The Park District’s tagline is “Your Fun is Our Business!” and we take fun seriously. Do you like the hit TV show The Amazing Race? If so, you’ll love Batavia’s Road Rally! The Road Rally will be taking place on Saturday, April 27 and is one of our 50th Anniversary “Throw Back Programs.” Turn to page 4 for more details.
The upcoming year has an abundance of special events and capital projects taking place. This spring will be the completion of the Eastside Community Center parking lot and the addition of a new playground. The northeast corner of the parking lot will feature a park-like setting complete with a pergola and park benches. The poured- in-place playground will be the official home for the New Horizons Preschool and have designated hours open to the public. There will be numerous renovations done to the Eastside Community Center such as a new roof that will replace the aging original roof as well as new windows that will assist with HVAC insulation. Currently, there is a Caterer’s Kitchen that is an offshoot to Shannon Hall. This kitchen will be completely renovated to be a commercial grade, multi-functional kitchen available for rentals and expanded programming. Do you have a large family? You can host your family’s Thanksgiving dinner with us!
All of us at the Batavia Park District want to thank you for your loyalty and support during our 50 years in existence. We are continuously listening to our community members to envision what the next 50 years will look like. The Community Needs Assessment was a great way for your voices to be heard.
To do a deeper dive into the Community Needs Assessment results, the Park Board and Staff will be hosting a Listening Tour throughout the community at various locations. The Listening Tour will be a time to gather input, as well as collect the insights, ideas, and context from residents before the Park District moves forward with any major capital projects. A tour schedule with locations, dates, and times will be released in late spring.
We look forward to your feedback as you help shape the future of the Batavia Park District!
All the best,
Allison Niemela, CPRP Executive Director
