The SCR Chambers: Barnsley & Rotherham Member Testimonial

“Westfield Health are Patrons of Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber and have been for a number of years now. I have a lovely relationship with the Chamber and they are always happy to help. I attend a number of different networking events through the Chamber. The events allow me to connect with many different businesses in the area and provides me with new business opportunities.”

Bethany Cudworth Health and Wellbeing Consultant, Westfield Health

Chamber events are set for another

Last year, the Chamber’s events exceeded expectations, with 2,617 delegates attending 43 events, a positive increase on 2017 figures. This year will see the return of the popular key

events such as; Charity Quiz, Chamber Means Business Exhibition, Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards and the St Leger Chamber Race Day, along with City Region Business Breakfast, Speed Networking and MPs Forums.

So, what’s new? The Chamber Networking Social Evenings

have proven successful with over 25 people in attendance at The Pavilion Bar & Kitchen, in Barnsley. We will be holding further social evenings

throughout the year, with the next being held on 2 May at the Old George, Barnsley. The ‘Chamber Hub’ networking event will

make its debut on Thursday, 28 February, at Barnsley Football Club. Special guest Bruce Dyer will be speaking of his transition from the first

million-pound teenage footballer, to local business man and head of charity Love Life. This will be in conjunction with Copier

Systems from 10am – 3pm, giving clients the opportunity to see the latest in managed print, showcasing and demonstrating a range of hardware.

And returning? Sometime back we introduced a ‘New Member Networking’ event, where all members who subscribe to membership in a 12-month period can attend and find out how to get the most out of their membership from the start. These events are held twice a year, sponsored

by Westfield Health, and are hugely popular to our new members with over 30 businesses in attendance. Look at our calendar to find out when the

next one is, and if you’ve been a member over 12 months, you’re not left out, please contact membership to arrange a one-to-one meeting.

The biggies… The annual Charity Quiz takes place on Thursday, 28 March in Barnsley. This year’s charity, In Memory of Molly Hurst: The Young People Health & Wellbeing Fund, was chosen by the judges of the 2018 Business Awards. The fund was set up by the Hurst family when they lost Molly little over a year ago and will support young people’s mental health. On the night, there will be a raffle to raise

monies which go directly to the fund. The quiz is open to all and quiz master Dominic Beck of Beck Financial Planning will cover a range of topics appealing to all ages. We will once again be expecting over 300

businesses at the free-to-attend Chamber Means Business exhibition on Thursday, 5 September from 9:30am – 2:30pm. There will be plenty of opportunities to network with local businesses as well as hearing from key business people within our region. All will be released mid-year, make sure you pencil this one your diary!
