SCR Mayor harnesses the voice of the region’s youth


Many passionate young people are proud to be the voice of communities across the Sheffield City Region (SCR). This hard work and


determination is now set to be channelled by Dan Jarvis, Mayor of the SCR, who recently announced that he is establishing a Sheffield City Region Youth Combined Authority. The announcement


was made as the Mayor launched Sheffield Futures’ “Door 43” facility in Division Street, Sheffield. The Sheffield City

Region Youth Combined Authority recently met for the first time. This is the first board of its kind for the SCR and has been developed in consultation with the region’s youth councils. Mayor Jarvis said: “I’ve met


many articulate, passionate and politically aware young people as MP and Mayor. Now is the time to give them a voice.


“This is why I am establishing a Sheffield City Region Youth Combined Authority to harness this talent and ensure that the young people in the city region have a voice in policy and decision making. I look forward to working with them all.” The Youth Combined Authority will have representatives from all nine local authorities in the SCR and will meet regularly with the
