Radio star lined up to host awards night


Radio DJ and voice of Heart Breakfast, Ed James, is to host the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce’s annual dinner and awards. James, who has co-hosted the region’s most


listened to breakfast show for nearly a decade, will take the mic for the black-tie event at the ICC on Thursday 11 April. The dinner and awards, sponsored by Birmingham City University and HSBC, are expected to attract around 1,300 people. Qatar Airways Qatar Airways are the drinks

for a Queen’s Award West Midlands and Warwickshire Lieutenancies are inviting businesses to a Queen’s Award for Enterprise Masterclass, hosted by the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce. The event, which takes place at Chamber


House in Edgbaston on 26 February (9am to 1pm), will provide businesses with advice on the application process for a Queen’s Award. The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise recognises


outstanding achievements by UK businesses in innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility. Nasir Awan, Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands, said: “Many companies are under the impression that the QAE is awarded to only national or multinational companies and has a difficult application process. “By attending the event we can demonstrate


that the award is to open to any company that has a minimum of two years’ track record and employs a minimum of two people.”


Council leader to


speak at event The leader of Birmingham City Council will be addressing some of the key issues affecting the city at a Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce speaker breakfast. Councillor Ian Ward is appearing at the


TouchBase Pears community centre in Birmingham on Tuesday 5 March (7.30am to 9.30am). Cllr Ward was first elected in 1995 and was


deputy leader between 2012 and 2017. Cllr Ward spearheaded the successful 2022


Commonwealth Games bid, having already helped bring several other high-profile international events to the city. The event is free to Chamber members, £15 to non-members and Future Faces members.
