Sevenoaks MP Sir Michael Fallon and the town’s mayor Councillor Roderick Hogarth were among the guests – along with new and existing members – at the offi cial unveiling of the new look gym and fi tness facilities at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre following a £1 million investment.
As part of the refurbishment there is a new suite of cardio equipment utilising the latest technology for fi tness tracking and entertainment along with new strength machines as well as a new dedicated free weights area. The centre has also taken delivery of an Outrace multi-functional fi tness rig that allows for individual exercise or those wishing to workout with friends or a personal trainer. Jane Parish, Sencio Community Leisure’s Chief Executive, said: “This major investment has delivered a whole range of improvements designed to make our fi tness offering one of the best in the area when it comes to services, equipment and value for money.” • Visit

TWILIGHT WALK
A record 1,161 people took part in the annual Twilight Walk in aid of local hospice charity ellenor.
The Twilight Walk, now in its ninth year, is ellenor’s fl agship event yet goes from strength to strength each year with walkers on this occasion fl ocking to Gravesend’s Cyclopark, to participate in an evening of fun, celebration and remembrance. All ages from the youngest to the oldest joined together with their families and friends, to walk either a 8km or 12km route, with the local community and passing cars honking their horns, cheering and supporting every step of the way.
The night was the perfect mix of memory making and remembering loved – walkers had written tributes on the back of their t-shirts and this made the evening all the more poignant and special.

HIGH SHERIFF THANKS KENT CHARITIES
More than 70 charities from across the county attended a special party at the St Clere Estate in Sevenoaks where, working with Kent Community Foundation (KCF), the High Sheriff of Kent, Jane Ashton, hosted the event as a celebration of all the brilliant and often unseen work carried out by small grassroots charities and community groups across Kent and Medway. Guests enjoyed tea, coffee and cake followed by inspiring speeches from Refocus Project and Waterside Parents’ Centre,
a representation of just some of the charities who have received funding through Kent Community Foundation’s core support pilot.
