ears and tantrums at teatime? Fussy eating can be a source of genuine frustration for parents with
young children. Alex Thurman (pictured above), from Feed the Brood, has some top tips for making mealtimes more enjoyable for both the grown ups and children alike.
“As a mum of three little ones, I’ve dealt with a lot of fussy eating, but I found the key to turning it around with my family. It’s not necessarily about getting my children to eat, but more about making our mealtimes harmonious, which in turn will aid good eating
habits over the long-term,” she says, adding: “We never bribe or reward, we sit and eat together as a family when we can, we play conversation games, chat about our day, take turns choosing the music and have the food on the table for everyone to help themselves to. This atmosphere of fun coupled with trust is the key to our happy mealtimes.” Alex has teamed up with
award-winning dietician and feeding therapist Sarah Almond- Bushell to host a Fussy Eaters S.O.S. evening at the Royal Wells Hotel in Tunbridge Wells (TN4 8BE) on Friday 9th November. • For more information, and to book, visit

Comfort zone
It’s tempting at this time of year to add extra blankets and covers to cots and beds, but research has shown that when using conventional bedding babies and toddlers can overheat.
Sleeping bags ensure little
ones remain at a constant temperature, eliminating the need for any other top covers, blankets or duvets, reassuring parents that their child’s head won’t be covered. Slumbersac’s new Apple design is now available for all sleeping bags, including their innovative sleeping bag with feet and newly-launched
sleeping bag with feet and detachable sleeves. All Slumbersac sleeping bags are made from soft 100% jersey cotton and padded with soft quick- dry polyester fl eece. The new Apple designs are available in sizes from 0-10 years and a variety of tog ratings including 2.5, which is suitable for use all year round. Prices start from £21.99. • For more information, visit
