Projects in France… Max Marine One has been established for a number of years on the South Coast of France. Based in St Tropez, the company required an Industrial Racking System, which could hold a number of boats in its yard. It was looking to store a large number of high value boats in a safe manner. These were currently

being left at ground level, either on wooden blocks or on trailers. As such, they constantly needed moving around, which meant that there was the potential for damage each time they changed position. In addition, when customers visited the yard (F1 driver Jenson Button being one of many), they felt that it sometimes looked unprofessional with boats lying around rather than being stored in an orderly manner. Wickens used its heavy duty


Dry-Stack System to provide a bespoke boat rack, which was chosen as it allowed a large span


across each bay capable of holding two boats. Modifications were made, which allowed the height of each bay to be altered in order to accommodate different sized vessels. In addition, Wickens designed a solution that allowed boats of different widths to be supported, giving maximum storage flexibility to the system overall. The racks were galvanised to cope with the salt water environment and shipped out to France with all the necessary instructions to help the customer build them on site. The major benefits to Max

…and The Netherlands Interboat Holland BV, a renowned marina operator in The Netherlands, appointed Wickens to design, build and install Dry Stack boat storage racking at Jachthaven Wetterwille in North Holland. One of the leading marinas in the well- known water sports area of the Loosdrecht Lakes, it offers more than 400 berths. The racking holds 27 luxury


boats, enabling the marina to provide a Dry Stack service for the first time. The specific difficulty of the project lay in creating the maximum in storage room, while respecting the strict local building regulations. The final bespoke racking system is 5.5 m in height and includes 8.0 m span bays with a load capacity of 6,000 kg per beam level. The height of beams and steel supports are also adjustable to enable Interboat to store different sized boats, with a length of up to 9.5 m.
