Remote-access doors, which use electromagnetic doors, can be specified with back-up features so that occupants can escape, even during the event of a power cut. For double doors, clever mechanisms have been designed so that in the event of an emergency, either the master door leaf or slave door leaf can be pushed and both doors will open. These not only increase safety, but also eliminate the need for ‘managed security solutions’ where doors need to be bolted ‘out of hours’.

Aspex has recently secured a contract to supply its Novista system to 50/60 Station Road in Cambridge City Centre. Aspex will be supplying its Novista Riser Steel System and Novista Timber Doorsets in a walnut veneer finish to the scheme, which will include a new state-of-the-art
office accommodation, just 150m from the train station and transport hub. Working alongside architects Nicholas Grimshaw, and contractors Galliford Try, the £87 million office space required a modern, sleek, and minimalistic finish that would complement the existing surroundings, and the Novista system provided the ideal solution.
