PROJECT REPORT: EDUCATION & RESEARCH FACILITIES

JDP delivers savings on drainage

The combination of JDP’s product innovation and local stock availability has resulted in a 20 per cent cost saving for one of the biggest school construction projects in Scotland. The new Inverurie Community Campus, due to open in 2020, will provide space for 1,600

pupils. To kick-start the project, JDP was able to provide David Smith Contractors – one of the project’s contractors – with a complete range of underground drainage systems. Having the opportunity to supply the entire site meant further cost savings could be made, and JDP also helped to overcome on-site challenges at the same time.

Cembrit is delighted that its Moorland fibre cement slates have been specified and installed at the new campus development at the University of Northampton. Situated on the River Nene the new Waterside Campus features a mixture of academic buildings and student accommodation. Specified by

Stride Treglown and installed by Russell Roofing, the Moorland slates dressed edge provides an aesthetically pleasing natural looking roof covering, for the new prestigious student accommodation blocks at the university, at a lower installed cost than natural slate.

The University of Nottingham is developing the manufacturing solutions of tomorrow at its new, RIBA award winning research facility featuring pipe and duct insulation from Kingspan Industrial Insulation. To optimise the performance of building services, over 7,000 metres of Kingspan Kooltherm

FM Pipe Insulation was installed on pipework across the building. The product has an aged thermal conductivity as low as 0.025 W/m·K (at 10°C mean), making it the most thermally efficient pipe insulation in common use within the UK construction industry today.
