It has been a busy Autumn Term for Corfe Hills School, with our students being involved with many extra-curricular activities, along with welcoming the local community to our open evenings and school tours.

There have been school trips, a fantastic school production, My Fair Lady at Poole Lighthouse, Careers Convention, sports fi xtures, rock challenge rehearsals, new initiatives as well as having our new Year 9 students settling in. We even managed to be on TV!

Inside Out: The BBC crew from Inside Out aired a segment about mental health in schools and interviewed and fi lmed some of our students about their training and their role within the school (meeting the needs of young people with emotional diffi culties in school).

Mr Keen, Headteacher, said: “We are delighted to have been one of Dorset Mind’s pilot schools. Dorset Mind’s collaborative work with us has been really benefi cial to us and our students. It has both raised wider awareness of mental health issues and provided targeted intervention for individuals.”

Year 9 Team Building: Our new Year 9 students participated in a teambuilding trip to Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy in September.

Students threw themselves into each of the activity sessions and quite often just into the water, but it seemed to have the desired effect, with each student having taken something away from the day.

Fantastic News! Corfe Hills School has been awarded the Bronze Award for its anti-bullying work from the Anti-Bullying Alliance. Anti-bullying Ambassadors have been appointed and students have attended Anti- bullying training run by the Diana Award alongside taking part in Anti- bullying week. The bronze status was awarded for the work we have put in over the last nine month period.
