Dining With Diamonds For Charity

Guests at a very special ‘Dine with Diamonds’ event, organised by Broadstone-based Forum Jewellers, have raised an astounding £1,556.40 for charity that will go directly to help a young local girl.

8-year-old Fern Harrison has the rare Alexander disease, which affects her ability to walk and swallow, and she cannot lift her head. She is being supported by the Dorset Children’s Foundation, who are Forum’s Charity of the Year.

The event, held at Broadstone Golf Club, saw 82 guests enjoying a buffet meal and fi nding out all about diamonds from expert and jewellery consultant, Helen Dimmick. In addition, guests were able to handle some exquisite and valuable diamond jewellery. The money was raised through a large raffl e of prizes donated by generous suppliers. The top prize of a diamond pendant worth £1,000 was won by Jenny Lewis. The money raised will be used towards buying Fern a Mollii suit, which is an electrical stimulation suit for the rehabilitation of spasticity, which will make her movement easier and help her sleep.

Forum Director Helen Molloy with Fern and her mum Nici Helen Molloy, Forum’s Director explains: “It was

such a fantastic evening and we’d like to thank all our guests for their generosity. We received a lovely message from Fern’s family saying they would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved and that the money raised by the raffl e will be so benefi cial for Fern.” She continues: “It was especially signifi cant because Fern lives in Broadstone and this was an opportunity for our community to support her.”

Louise Hands-Heathfi eld, Community Events Manager for The Dorset Children’s Foundation was delighted at the success of the event: “Helen and the team at Forum Jewellers created and ran a superb event to raise funds for Fern. When they said Dine with Diamonds they meant it! We were able to handle and win some beautiful jewellery and an amazing amount of money was raised. We at the Dorset Children’s Foundation say a huge ‘Thank You’ to all concerned.”
