District Councillor Report
During November we have celebrated the Centenary of the Armistice that brought to an end the First World War 1914-1918.
During the weekend of Sunday 11th November we, as individuals, with community groups including local councils, held special remembrance events.
Towns and villages throughout the country, held parades and church services to give thanks and pay respect to the many service personnel and civilians who lost their lives.
Our East Dorset District Council is now in a period of ‘running down’ as the new Shadow Dorset Council begins to take shape.
There is much work to be done as we prepare for the new Council to take up its role on 1st April 2019.
Election of the members of the new Authority will be held on the fi rst Thursday of May 2019. Corfe
Mullen will have two Councillors.
The main issue facing us at the moment is the building of homes, both affordable and private. The demand for both continues and the Government is expecting councils to deliver.
In the latest East Dorset District Plan Options Consultation document, Corfe Mullen is expected to provide 243 new homes.
But this number includes about 150 that already have planning permission. The rest are likely to be provided in the Northern part of the village.
The consultation period closed in September and we now await the fi nal recommendations.
