Specialists ensure

healthy transaction A Midlands-based corporate finance specialist has played a key role in the take-over of a firm that is a major supplier to the NHS. Cooper Parry Corporate Finance, which has an

office at Blythe Valley business park in Solihull, advised London private equity firm WestBridge Capital on its acquisition of AJM Healthcare, which is based in the South East. AJM Healthcare is a provider of mobility

services and community equipment solutions to local authorities and the NHS. Cooper Parry partner Andy Parker said: “NHS

outsourcing is a market that continues to grow. Providers like AJM, who demonstrate quality outcomes for commissioners and end customers are particularly attractive. “Interest in the wider healthcare sector

remains high with this transaction following our recent work on the sale of Blink Medical to US Private Equity in July.” WestBridge investment director Tim Whittard

said: “We are extremely pleased to complete our investment in AJM Healthcare. Cooper Parry’s in- depth sector knowledge and support were key in helping us to get the deal over the line.”

New masterplan

for town centre Talks are opening on a new master plan for Solihull town centre, a business breakfast organised by Solihull Chamber of Commerce was told. Bob Sleigh, leader of Solihull Metropolitan

Borough Council, and chairman of the West Midlands Combined Authority, said that “business is absolutely critical for us”, adding “Our employment record is second to none and we have created 20,000 new jobs in the past two years. “However, we do not stand still in Solihull

and we are working on a new master plan for the whole of the town centre. We are aware of the challenges faced by major stores but we want to build on Solihull record of having the 30th most popular centre in the UK and we’re working with the owners of Mell Square to bring it up to date.” He spoke about expansion plans at the

Birmingham Airport, although there would not be a second runway. “There will be a new road into the airport

from the M42 as part of the plans for a garden suburb that will be built along with HS2 interchange, linking to Birmingham International and the NEC,” he said. Cllr Sleigh added that the council was now

obliged to build 700 new homes in Solihull, saying there would be a consultation process to decide where they will be located.
