Hi Paul! Cathie and I had to Be Happier go to Bank America in Mont- gomery Village last week. We had some complicated

stuff to deal with, because of all those medical bills. And, my oh my, recovery is pain- fully slow! However, the lady who “solved” what we were worried about was so undeni- ably cheerful and she actually said: “I like a paper called the Upbeat Times ~ it reflects how I feel everyone should try to be--always positive.” So, I handed her a copy and Cathie took her picture. Sharon got so excited! Fun. Perhaps there will be room to include her nice smile in a future paper and to say her name is Sharon Guzman, Relationship Mgr. at Bank America.

makes us healthier, stronger. We start to see a better way to get our needs met. We start to learn an important skill of hap- piness; that of accepting others. And, in the nearly-impossible practice of being tender with each other, we will slowly, in- evitably, acquire

the totally

impossible means of forgiving ourselves. It’s not only others who need our gentle reconsid- eration: in cutting them some slack, we find new openings for being gentle with ourselves. And that also leads to great moments of peace, a feeling of ease and space that we can carry inside; a lasting, inner treasure.

I wish all these things for you. Love, Lori

JOKES & Humor #9

A motorcycle patrolman was rushed to the hospital with an inflamed appendix. The doctors operated and ad- vised him that all was well. However, the patrolman kept feeling something pulling at the hairs on his chest.

Worried that it might be a second surgery the doctors hadn’t told him about, he finally got enough energy to pull his hospital gown down enough so he could look at what was making him so uncomfortable.Taped firmly across his hairy chest were three wide strips of adhesive tape, the kind that doesn’t come off. Written in large black letters was the sentence. “Get well quick..... from the nurse you gave a ticket to last week.”
