Welcome to the 7th Edition of the Relay Magazine
Welcome to the 7th Edition of the Relay Magazine dedicated to celebrating School Sport and Physical Activity across the county.
This edition reviews the results of the fantastic summer Wiltshire and Swindon School Games. It was the first time schools from both Swindon and Wiltshire were brought together to compete in the Level 3 county competition that was held at Marlborough College on the 6th July. The Winter and Summer School Games competitions saw 110 Schools and 3116 athletes compete at 22 Sports with 300 young
sports leaders from the secondary schools officiating.
The success of the School Games would not be possible without the staff and volunteers from the many partners who support this and other events. We would like to thank Marlborough College for hosting our Summer Festival. Wiltshire Council Sports Team and Leisure Centre for their contribution and the many clubs and County Associations who provide officials for each of the competitions. We are launching our Young Photographer Competition for young people to enter who enjoy
taking photos and would like to be the official photographer at the summer School Games event! They will see their picture in the next winter edition of the Relay Magazine, on our website as well as in the local newspapers!
We have been inundated with articles from schools across the county wanting to celebrate their pupils sporting successes, we can
only include a snippet of the great achievements that young athletes are attaining.
We hope you enjoy reading the various articles that show you how well the sporting landscape is developing for young people in Wiltshire and Swindon.

The young athletes were joined for the day by Swindon’s Grant Turner, Olympic and Commonwealth Games Swimmer, along with 1968 Olympic 400m hurdles gold medalist David Hemery. The event was organised by Wiltshire and Swindon Sport (WASP) in conjunction
