SANTA ROSA, CA. ~ As a small thank you for their brav- ery and heroism not only dur- ing last year’s fires but every day; active members of law en- forcement, firefighters and first responder units are granted free Fair admission on August 6 and 7. The Sonoma County Fair is honored to announce “First Responder Days” at the Fair as a community celebration to thank our local heroes in uni- form. The traveling carnival began in America in the late 1800’s as a result of improved trans- portation and technology.


The USA’s first state fair was held in Syracuse, New York in September of 1841.


The first World’s Fair was held in 1851 in England at London’s Crystal Palace. The fair exhibited American machinery of the Industrial Revolution.


Nora Gonzalez and I met at the Kona Isle in Kona, Ha- waii in November 2014 and became immediate friends. 3 years later we hooked up again with our favorite magazine, Upbeat Times.
