“My name is Gabe Croft and I became a
BBS fan in late 2011 at the ripe old age of 20. I was flipping through the channels late one night and saw Black Stone Cherry on the Di- rectv concert series. I stayed up and watched that, then Smoke came on. I had never heard of them before and decided to watch. The first song was “Like I Am” and I thought to myself, “Wow, I really like these guys.” The second song is what got me, though. The song two was “Testify” and watching Charlie in his bell bottoms do his spins I was so amped up from that song, I don’t even remember the rest of the show. I was riding a high and just loving the music. So, I jumped online and buy tick- ets to my first show, May 5, 2012 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on the Blood, Sweat, and Beers tour with Brantley Gilbert and Eric Church. Now I’m gearing up for show #38 Saturday night in Macon. Shows 39 and 40 are coming up in a few weeks at the Shed. I’ve met many lifelong friends from all over the place because of this band. I liken the band to acts such as the Grateful Dead, All- man Brothers, and Black
Crowes...not be- cause of their sound. Oh no, they have a sound all their own and have proven that time and again with each album they release - it’s because they have found a way to get people to come back, show after show, just as the listed bands have done until people have seen
them 20, 40, or even over 100 times! I think that’s what every band should strive to do. Nail down a good core fan base and keep them coming back. Blackberry Smoke has done that to the 10th power and as long as they keep putting out music, I will strive to make every show that I can.
