Oban - Oban
The Atlantic Isles to the Bishop’s Isles
Tuesday 27th August to Tuesday 3rd September 2019 7 nights including 2 Gala Dinners
Beautiful in all seasons, the Scottish Highlands and Islands display a stunning tapestry of landscapes. Far from the crowds and everyday world, savour the tranquillity of the Inner and Outer Hebrides from the elegance and comfort of Hebridean Princess.
Our first foray ashore is at delightful Tayvallich, before we head to the fertile Isle of Gigha and the 54-acre Achamore Gardens, home to many notable and unusual plants and trees from around the world.
Onwards to neighbouring Jura and using the beach landing craft we embrace the remote tranquillity of the beach at West Loch Tarbert, ahead of travelling north west to Colonsay House Gardens.
Founded by St Columba in AD563, Iona Abbey is one of Scotland's most sacred sites, retaining its spiritual atmosphere, it remains an enduring symbol of worship, which we will witness during our time ashore.
At Hynish, the Skerryvore Lighthouse Museum reveals how the heroic engineers and keepers built and maintained Scotland's tallest lighthouse, before we make our second beach landing on one of the Bishop’s Isles.
Kisimul Castle dates from the 15th century and by boat we can explore what is known as the ‘Castle in the Sea’.
From Lochboisdale, the historic standing stones of Pobull Fhinn and the ancient burial chamber of Barpa Langass await, whilst Hebridean Princess continues to Lochmaddy for us to board later in the day.
Dubbed the ‘Garden of the Hebrides’, our cruise culminates with a stretch of legs on the island of Canna and our afternoon is spent relaxing on board as we sail past the Small Isles en route to Oban.
