Our first Footloose cruise of 2019 takes us over the Little Minch to the Outer Isles of Barra and The Uists to reveal their rich diversity, before exploring the varied landscapes of Skye and the Inner Isles. A varied itinerary of walks is interspersed with alternative visits for those who prefer a more relaxed pace.
Savour the tranquillity of a walk on the tiny, traffic-free island of Ulva, or gain insight into the harsh days of crofting at Sheila’s Cottage. The same sense of remoteness is also palpable on the walkers’ paradise of Coll, ringed by sweeping sandy beaches.
Onwards to the historic wildlife haven of Eigg to enjoy strolls beneath the dramatic pitchstone ridge of An Sgùrr. The nature reserve of Rum offers refreshing walks, or a visit to Bullough’s Kinloch Castle, a time- capsule of Edwardian opulence.
Crossing to the Outer Isles and Barra, walk through flower strewn machair, moorland and stunning white-sand beaches or discover the only significant surviving medieval castle in the Outer Hebrides, Kisimul Castle.
A full day on The Uists allows the walkers to set out from Lochboisdale and re-join the ship in Lochmaddy, whilst the strollers enjoy a tour of these contrasting landscapes. Crossing the Little Minch to Uig, our walkers are challenged by the terrain of The Quiraing in Trotternish; strollers can explore this awe-inspiring peninsula on a coach tour.
At the head of Loch Nevis, in remote Knoydart, lies tiny Inverie, our final port of call, before we return to Oban past the Small Isles.

Cruise the Sea of the Hebrides. Castlebay, Barra - Walks/Kisimul Castle.
Saturday 27th April Lochboisdale, South Uist - Full day walk or island tour. Lochmaddy, North Uist - Guests rejoin ship.
Sunday 28th April Uig, Skye - Full day walk or tour of Trotternish peninsula. Portree, Skye - Guests rejoin ship.
Monday 29th April Inverie - Walking in Knoydart. Cruise the Small Isles
Tuesday 30th April Oban - Disembarkation.
