Greenock - Greenock
Leaving our berth at Greenock we enjoy a cruise of Loch Fyne, Scotland’s longest sea loch, with ever-changing views of spectacular and unspoilt scenery. Arriving at Strachur, we venture ashore for a guided tour of Strachur House, built by General John Campbell in the 1780s.
Sitting on the shores of Loch Fyne, on the Cowal peninsula, Portavadie is wild and remote, we explore on foot the surrounding area which abounds with beautiful hills, glens, ancient forests, a rugged coastline and white sandy beaches.
On the Kintyre peninsula, our next port of call is the village of Tarbert with panoramic views from Robert the Bruce’s 14th century ruined castle, before heading to the island known as ‘Scotland in Miniature’. Arran is home to only one working distillery and here we learn the art of whisky making and taste a wee dram.
Our final foray ashore is on the delightful island of Great Cumbrae where the cathedral at Millport seats only 100 worshippers.
