Once settled on board, our first morning allows us to relax as we steam serenely to the island of Barra by traversing the Sea of the Hebrides. Kisimul Castle dates from the 15th century and by boat we can explore what is known as the ‘Castle in the Sea’.
On the 23rd July 1745 Prince Charles Edward Stuart arrived in the Outer Hebrides and first set foot on Scottish soil on the Isle of Eriskay. His aim was to regain the throne of Great Britain on behalf of his father, ‘The Old Chevalier’, James Francis Edward Stuart. Following in his footsteps we embrace the beauty of Prince’s Bay.
Joined to Sanday by a causeway, secluded Canna lies less than 5 miles off Rum. Dubbed the ‘Garden of the Hebrides’, this elongated, green and grassy isle is capped by magnetic Compass Hill at 458 feet in the north. Here we take the opportunity to stretch our legs.
Before cruising by Ardnamurchan point, we sojourn to the Isle of Rum to appreciate the grand red sandstone architecture and bespoke decoration of the once flamboyant Kinloch Castle. Taking three years to construct, staring in 1897, the castle was the first private residence in Scotland to have electricity.

Tuesday 27th August Oban - Disembarkation.
