Employment and Skills Summit – 20 June 2018
BRIDGING THE GAP AND DEVELOPING THE SKILLS TO UNDERPIN THE INDUSTRIAL STRATEGY ACROSS THE MIDLANDS ENGINE
Taking place on Wednesday 20 June at Loughborough University’s West Park Teaching Hub from 8.30am to 1pm, the summit will explore how regional prosperity rests on having sufficient skilled staff and, as identified through our Quarterly Economic Survey, why there is a continued problem faced by employers with regards to the shortfall of available skilled labour in our region. The summit will also explore
how the region can address this challenge to ensure there is a bright future for our local economies and our young people.
Building on previous years'
events, the Chamber's 2018 Employability and Skills Summit will continue to deliver against the manifesto aim - to bridge the gap between education and the world of work - thus creating an environment to improve competitiveness, innovation and productivity levels. As well as a full agenda there will also be opportunities to attend workshops throughout the day.
For more information on the exhibition stand spaces – of which limited space remains - please contact Ian Bates at

It may seem early in the year to be thinking about the festive season but it’s never too soon to get organised and save time further down the line. With that in mind, the Chamber’s Annual Christmas Lunch - the highlight of the Leicestershire business calendar - has been confirmed for 2018. Taking place on Friday 7 December at Winstanley House, the event will
kick-start the festive season with style. Last year’s lunch was a huge success and attracted over 350 attendees from organisations across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. Sponsorship packages are now available and include places at the event,
the opportunity to showcase your business during the afternoon, inclusion in the pre-event promotion, including e-shots to over 27,000 subscribers - promotion via the Chamber’s social media channels - which have 29,000 followers combined - and your logo included on the event’s web page.
If you are interested in raising the profile of your organisation at the 2018 Annual Christmas Lunch as an event sponsor, and would like to discuss how you could benefit from supporting the event, please contact Yvonne Pennington, Head of Membership, on 07966 523532 or email
