WHAT IS YOUR ROCKSTAR NAME?

Addressing the human aspect of cybersecurity. According to the Internet we all have a Rockstar name. Apparently, it is your first pet’s name and your mother’s maiden name. My first pet’s name was Max and my mother’s maiden name is Mason. So, my Rockstar name is Max Mason. Funny hey?

Well perhaps that’s not so funny when you think about it. I had this question come up as a Facebook app quiz. What I noticed is that the app asked for permission to access not only my public details but also my list of friends, my email address and have the ability to post on my behalf to my timeline. This aggregated information is valuable to a cybercriminal since things like maiden name are used for identity.

Hackers can get staff to do things they ordinarily would not by manipulating emotions such as using humour or pity. As a result, roughly 66% of cyber incidents are caused by the inadvertent actions of staff.

Surprisingly technology implemented well only reduces risk by about 33% and the human factor is often overlooked. Good cybersecurity hygiene also involves training staff.

At Cyberwolf, we have a 5-step program that we work with clients to reduce their risks. We use real world simulations of threats such as theft of intellectual property and theft of money. Our approach is use a red team exercise to achieve the objective by any means usually involving cyber penetration testing, physical breach, and social engineering. This measures the problem in your organisation and allows us to deliver a specific training program to reduce your risks.

For a modest investment, our approach has a very big impact on your organisation. Come to a free event or attend a free webinar to learn more.
