China selects UoN to serve as training partner

The University of Nottingham’s Portland building

The University of Nottingham has been accredited as an official training partner by the Chinese government. The agreement, with China’s State Administration for Foreign Expert Affairs (SAFEA), enables the university to provide expertise and training programmes to technical and managerial professionals in China. The university is one of the first higher education

institutes in the UK to be granted the status this year. The five-year agreement, signed in Shenzen, China, builds on the university’s track records in research and teaching collaborations with China. As an official overseas training collaborative

organisation, the university will provide training across its wide range of expertise, including the fields of new materials, advanced manufacturing, geospatial, big data, creative industries, entrepreneurship and healthcare. Professor Nick Miles, Pro-Vice Chancellor for

Global Engagement, said: “As the very first British university to open a China campus, we always commit to support the talent development of the country. China has set up a large number of innovation strategies for economic and social development. We are well positioned to help the country to achieve this plan.”
