Advocacy

It has been our experience that a program which successfully advocates for itself, thereby leading to its success, is one which is proactive, rather than reactive. To that end, here are some identifiable characteristics which are common to those programs: • Organized and unified in its efforts. • Connections made with local, regional, state, and national organizations. • Prepared vision and strategies. • Shares information regarding the benefits of music education for its students. • Faculties see themselves as teachers of students, not ‘just’ music teachers. • Collaboration and not competition among the faculty and staff.
