Nearly 25 years ago, a small select
group of individuals led by Gene O’Brien conceived and launched an idea to unite concessionaires and provide a unified voice in the Fair Industry. The diligence and forethought of these founders have led to great successes that benefit you as a NICA member and continue to gain momentum and respect within the in- dustry. It started with one independent
concessionaire purchasing a membership that has grown to over 1,200 members strong. As part of NICA’s strategic plan, the growth and sustaina-
bility of our membership is of key importance to your NICA Board and the office. Efforts to establish membership growth begin not only with our current members but addi- tionally with the establishment and growth of our Councils. Much of NICA’s growth and sustainability has come from
the establishment and vast success of NICA West over 10 years ago. In efforts to continue and replicate the success of NICA West’s membership and financial growth, the NE Council was established two years ago with Jessica Gotsche as the NE Council Coordinator. It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that NICA
welcomes Jessica Gotsche in her expanded role to now include the Southeast Council and NICA’s Social Media Co- ordinator. As the Northeast Council Coordinator for nearly two years, Jessica has built a strong and thriving Council, established reoccurring socials that create new NICA mem- bers, launched and maintained excellent fundraising cam- paigns and is crafting new projects that will continue to promote and build membership as well as Board leader- ship. The staff and I are elated to work with her on these projects and look to share the successes of the NE and SE Councils with you this coming year.
