FROM THE PRESIDENT Dawn Rowe
As President of the Florida Federation of Fairs I have had the opportunity to travel
to several Fairs around the state. I look forward to experiencing the spring Fair season in Florida. Even though the Florida temperatures dropped, it was still business as usual as I visited the Hillsborough County Fair, Manatee County Fair and South Florida Fair. It was so much fun to interact with my Fair friends and eat the yummy food that seemed to vary from Fair to Fair. Hats off to all the organizations for producing such amazing events within our state. I'm excited to be visiting the Florida State Fair for the first time. The Osceola County Fair, my hometown Fair, has always overlapped dates preventing me from seeing how they do it in Tampa. Despite the travel as President, I will still manage to volunteer throughout the 10 days for the Osceola County Fair and Kissimmee Valley Livestock Show and love every minute of it! Bill Olson of the Greater Jacksonville Fair and Lisa Hinton, FFF Executive Director, have put together a Spring Florida Fair trip for March 2-4 which will in- clude visits to: The St. Lucie County Fair, South- west Florida & Lee County Fair, Strawberry Festival, and Central Florida Fair. I do hope you will join me
and this great group of folks from around the state. I had the honor of attending Legislative Days in Tallahassee with several colleagues.
Having never been to the capitol before, it was such an educational and moving experi- ence to be able to meet with our Legislators and share how important Fairs are to Flor- ida. As we look ahead to the future, please plan to attend the annual convention May 17-
19 in Orlando at the Hilton Buena Vista Palace. Paul Davis, Convention Program Chair, is putting together enjoyable and informative programs that will be of interest to all Florida Federation and Zone 2 attendees. I hope you will take advantage of everything that the Florida Federation of Fairs and the Walt Disney World area have to offer our group! Congratulations to Rick Vymlatil, CFE, the newly-inducted Chair of the International
Association of Fairs and Expositions, Rick truly makes all of us in Florida proud to be represented by such a great man! Also, from the South Florida Fair, Vicki Chouris, CFE is the newly elected Zone 2 Director. Lastly, a big congratulation to Miranda Muir awarded the Young Professional Initiative Rising Star at the 2017 IAFE convention. I am so proud to be part of an industry that celebrates the values and lifestyle that make this country so great.
Since this will be my last article as the President of the
Florida Federation of Fairs, I want to thank all of the staff-members, volunteers, enter- tainers, vendors and sponsors for all that you do for this great organization!
