Hillsborough County Fair The 2017 Hillsborough County Fair was held Oct 19-22
and 26-29, 2017 in Dover, FL. This year’s theme was “Harvest the Fun” and all our board, volunteers and staff enjoyed a great 8-day fair full of fun and excitement. Arnold’s Amusements provided great family fun rides and
games and we had great weather except for a rainy Satur- day the second weekend of the fair. But despite one rainy day, the fair was an exciting time for all our vendors, en- tertainers and youth exhibits. Our arena was home to our Special Events including 2
days of bone crunching fun with the Bulls and Barrels Rodeo, 2 days of our Truck and Tractor Pull and the fair concluded on Sunday with our Demolition Derby. We also hosted in our arena a STEM catapult competition, horse show, FFA Trac- tor and Lawn Mower driving contest and Whip Cracking event. Our new entertainment pavilion featured local entertain-

ment from singing and dancing, to holding our Gospel Jam on both Sundays of the fair. It was also home to our 2017 Children’s Pageant and starting point of our first-ever Har- vest baby parade that featured our youngest fair go’ers decorated in their best harvest attire. Robinson’s Racing Pigs, Firefighter Show and the Family
Fun Circus provided daily free shows to our crowds and as always are a huge hit with our families. New this year was our YPI Committee’s Pumpkin Patch, where you could pick out your pumpkin, go on a hay ride or play some pumpkin corn hole and was a perfect photo spot. We also featured our Family Living Arts and Crafts, Photography and Fine Arts with a robotics division. Also in our exhibition building we hosted our interactive butterfly garden, plant shows and educational exhibits. Fair attendees could also paint a pumpkin or paint a rock in our HCF Rocks area. New this year was our STEM and Ag Educational area
which was an interactive area for attendees of all ages. You could try your hand at our interactive periodic table, learn about hydroponics, bee-keeping, our milkable cow and of course the most popular area was our Young Ex- plorers area where you could build your own creations with Legos, magnets and wood building blocks. This was also home to our Back to Your Roots Gardening Projects, Wheelbarrow Decoration Contest and Art Puzzle Piece Dis- play. We also have on site a unique school display from the Hillsborough County Public School System in the old- fashioned school house.
FAIRCRACKER-SPRING 2018
Our Historic Hometown
Hillsborough area takes you back in time where you can visit our shooting gallery, blacksmith shop, see our antique tractor and toll dis- plays, our cane mill or visit in our new addition to the historic area with a replica of a packing house. We also invite local farmers and rancher to our Ranchers Roundup where they have a chance to use their ranch’s brands to leave a permanent mark on the fairgrounds. And we can’t forget our youth livestock shows,
which are some of the largest in the state! We hosted youth livestock shows for Swine, Sheep, Goats, Poultry, Rab- bits, Beef Heifers and Steers, Dairy and new Youth Market Turkey Show and Sale. We saw record numbers in all divisions and hope we see more youth in future years. Everyone that at-
tended the 2017 Hills- borough County Fair enjoyed their bountiful Harvest of Fun and we are looking forward to another great year in 2018! Thank you to all our wonderful sponsors, vol- unteers and staff that made the 2017 a great suc- cess.
