Ag Committee Report on Swine Shows

Through the efforts of the Agriculture Committee and Stacey

Wade, Chairman of the Committee, the FDACS has issued this guideline for organizers of Swine Shows. The FDACS has also provided a list of recommendations for

Swine Exhibitors which all Fairs/Shows are suggested they send to their Swine Show exhibitors. Please go to www.floridafairs.org under General Info and Ag Resources for a copy of this document.

From FDAC – Dr. Fernandez – December 2017 For the show organizers

Always follow chapter 5C-4 for the admission of animals for

exhibition and notify the FADCS/DAI Preparation for the show: Swine Tagging: disinfect the tagging gun after each use or trail-

er, use disposable gloves, do not go inside the trailer, let the ex- hibitor bring the animal to you. If you are going inside of each trailer, it is recommended the use of disposable booties and dis- posable apron for each trailer.

 At the weigh in: sweep the floor and disinfect the area were animals are entering the pen, ideally after each animal. Be- fore the animal is unloaded from the trailer ask the exhibitor for the temperature taken that morning.

 During the show ask the exhibitor to take the temperature daily, if the animal is found abnormal, it must be taken to isolation/quarantine area.

 Before the show starts, have an isolation/quarantine area ready, if during the show any animal develops any clinical signs of an infectious disease, that animal needs to be moved to isolation/quarantine area and then transported to origin for follow up.

Hospitality Committee The Hospitality Suite at the Florida Federation of

Fair’s Convention and IAFE Zone 2 meeting is a vital part of the networking opportunities available during the Convention. This year the Hospitality Suite hours will be expand-

ed to accommodate even greater networking! The suite will be open on Wednesday after the Golf

Tournament and Splitsville Mix and Mingle from 9 pm – 12 pm and on Thursday night after the President’s Party it will be open from 11 pm – 12 pm. With over 500 attendees at the convention, we would

certainly appreciate everyone’s support in helping with donations for product or the purchase of product for the suite. Between all of our Fairs and our Associates – you have been most generous in the past making contributions so that the suite is a success! Lee Bakst, Chairman of the Hospitality Suite is again

seeking donations of product or financial contributions. You can let him know if you would like to participate by sending him at email at lee@flstrawberryfestival.com or calling him at 813-752 -9194.

If you would like to send a donation, it can be

made to the Florida Federation of Fairs and sent to 12802 Balm Boyette Road, Riverview, FL 33579. Make check payable to the Florida Federation of Fairs. Thanks for your consideration in helping!
