More Convention News Continued from page 1

be back for the Extravaganza. We are delighted that Fairs from IAFE Zone 2 will be joining us

again! What a great way to network with other Fairs in the southeast as well as our own Florida Fairs. Be sure to join us for the Welcome Zone 2 Reception held at 5:15 on Thursday after- noon in the Hospitality Suite. The Convention Committee also felt strongly that the way for

our Associate members to get more involved with our Fairs is to participate more in our workshops and round tables. This year’s Saturday morning sessions will feature topics of interest to both Fairs and Associates and the trade show will be closed until after lunch. Then, you’ll have some final time in the Trade Show Satur- day afternoon to “finish up your business” as well as a few dy- namic final workshops to close out the program! The grand finale will be Saturday night’s “SUPER GALA” -

Think Reds, Blues, and Glittery Golds, dress to impress at our annual Awards Gala. We will laugh, dance, and enjoy a great time as we honor some of the Super Heroes of our industry. A special thanks to Miranda Muir, Gala Chairman, and her commit- tee for turning this event into something special! Plan on putting on your “fancy duds” and join us for a spectacular presentation of awards, showcases, and our presentation of the Hall of Fame and Associate of the Year recipients!

This workshop provides these lessons learned in a concise, interactive and comfortable environment. The brief seminar is conducted in a interactive presentation

style and is designed with everyone in mind. No special skills, self -defense or physical abilities are necessary. It can be adapted to various audience sizes and settings, and is designed to take 2-4 hours to complete. Topics include: A recap of recent Active Shooter incidents in the

U.S., the various motivations, ideations and ideologies of active shooters, the Boyd Decision-Making Cycle, Cooper’s Survival Con- ditions, understanding and overcoming the physiological effects of stress/danger, the survival mentality, DHS recommendations for what to do and not to do in an Active Shooter incident, under- standing the First Responder response to Active Shooter incidents and others. Specific topics may vary slightly depending on the length of the workshop and the specific needs of each organiza- tion.
