YPI Update Nicole Jones, Chair

YPI CHARITY FUNDRAISER AND GRANTS

Important programs initiated by YPI Committee The young professionals group has been hard at work

this past year creating exciting new opportunities for FFF Fairs and Associates. With support of the Florida Federation of Fairs Board of Directors, we are proud to announce the continuation of two community service based programs for the 2017-2018 Fair season. The projects will conclude with activities and recognitions at the 2018 convention in Orlan- do. 1st – YPI Community Service Grants We will be awarding two, $500 grants to fairs or associ-

ate members doing great things in their community. If you are a young professional (40 and under), organizing and promoting a community service project in your area, we want to help you go further and provide future funding. Applications for our YPI Community Service Grants will be posted on the FFF’s website and should be turned in before April 1, 2018. Tell us what your young members are doing to help make the world a better place and you just might be the recipient of $500. 2nd – YPI Resource Drive to assist The Literacy Vol-

unteers of Collier County Since 1984, Literacy Volunteers of Collier County (LVCC),

a 501c3 non-profit organization, has been offering confi- dential one-to-one tutoring to adults who want to improve their reading, writing, and English speaking skills to partici- pate more fully in the daily tasks of life such as family, em- ployment, school and community. Serving over 400 students with a growing list of individu-

als to be served, LVCC helps meet the challenges of Collier County’s growing population to ensure that all people from all walks of life deserve the chance to live productive and fulfilling lives. An accredited affiliate of ProLiteracy America, LVCC’s

trained and dedicated tutors work with students of all lev- els. All teaching, is centered on individual needs and goals of the students and is designed to promote the potential and dignity of every student and to increase students’ lan- guage skills to help build confidence and self-esteem. Donations can be made when you register for the con-

vention or will be accepted during the annual FFF conven- tion. To donate, go to: http://www.floridafairs.org/p/ members/216 We all know members of the fair industry have the big-

gest hearts and are most caring and generous. Our goal is to help our young professionals keep up the good work, while giving back to our local communities.
