AWARDS
OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION
The Outstanding Contribution to Pharmacy Merit Award showcases and celebrates achievement among the community pharmacy sector in Scotland.
As well as highlighting the ever-increasing contribution that pharmacists make in the wider healthcare arena, this award is aimed at identifying appropriate role models, who both inspire and motivate others.
We were looking to recognise an individual, who has had a sustained career, and who has not only had made a very signifi cant contribution to the pharmacy sector, but who has also been an inspiration to their peers.
The Adjudicating Panel are particularly looking for evidence of someone with a level of dedication that goes above and beyond the call of duty.
The winner will be a fi gure who has had a major impact on the pharmacy profession as a whole and is likely to have impacted on the working lives of most pharmacists over the course of
the year, through demonstrating evidence of leadership, determination and clarity of thought.
The recipient of this prestigious award will be announced on the night.
Last year’s Outstanding
Contribution to Pharmacy accolade went to the very deserving – and very popular – Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Director for Scotland, Alex MacKinnon.
Needless to say, Alex was both surprised and delighted by the recognition.
‘I had no idea that this was going to happen,’ Alex told SP on the evening. ‘It’s a great privilege, but I’m accepting it on behalf of all the people that I’ve worked with over the years. It’s all about teamwork and we have such a wonderful team in Scotland so it’s a privilege for me to accept it on behalf of all of them.’
‘Alex was an obvious choice for this award,’ said Community Pharmacy Scotland Chief Executive Offi cer, Harry McQuillan, ‘especially when
Professor Harry McQuillan, CEO Community Pharmacy Scotland, Alex MacKinnon, Director, Royal Pharmaceutical Society Scotland and Bernard Stottelaar, EMIS Health.
you see how much he has achieved over the years for pharmacy. It’s been great to work with Alex over the years and I’m sure he still has plenty to offer Scottish pharmacy in the years to come.’
We look forward to announcing the recipient of this year’s Outstanding Contribution to Pharmacy Award on 3 March at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
