COMMUNITY PHARMACY TEAM OF THE YEAR

supported by BOOTS HILLHOUSE, HAMILTON

The current Hillhouse pharmacy team includes colleagues who have worked there for a signifi cant length of time, helping to drive the pharmacy forwards through periods of change while keeping patient and customer care as the top priority. Over the past year, the pharmacy has consistently demonstrated excellent customer care, which is at the heart of everything the team does for the local community. This is demonstrated through good business performance, including growth on last year, and positive feedback.

DAVIDSONS CHEMIST, FORFAR, ANGUS

Staff turnover at this Davidsons Chemist branch is low, giving the pharmacy deep roots in caring for the people of Forfar. Although key staff have changed very little over the years, the pharmacy has had quite a dramatic transformation within the past year, with the arrival of a state-of-the-art robot, ‘Walter’. Each of the team has clearly-defi ned roles and uses their individual strengths to support each other, creating a varied skill set which enables them to accomplish any task put before them.

LINDSAY & GILMOUR, GRANGEMOUTH

When pharmacist Gordon Walker took up his post two years ago, he immediately recognised that, by maximising the abilities of his team, his pharmacy would be able to increase their level of services to patients in all areas, as well as offer further extended services, such as clozapine pharmacy dispensing. Gordon and his team also worked on improving the medicines ordering facility and, in conjunction with company management, launched an app which enabled patients to order repeats at their leisure.

STRATHEARN PHARMACY, CRIEFF

The Strathearn Pharmacy team puts its patients at the centre of everything it does. The team spends time, for example, with new trainee GPs within the branch to allow them to see how important pharmacy is to their job. The pharmacy’s increase in CMS serial prescriptions to over 100 patients has also had a major impact on the patients, some of whom have actually registered solely for this purpose due to the team’s excellent relationship with the surgeries.
