PHARMACIST OF THE YEAR

As well as working as the manager of Alness Pharmacy and as an independent prescriber, Calum also sits on both the Area Pharmaceutical Committee and the Community Pharmacy Highland Contractor Committee. He takes on these extra commitments because he is passionate about the future of pharmacy in the area and has a strong belief that, by working with his peers, they will be able to improve services for both patients and pharmacists. Recently, Calum set up the Easter Ross Pharmacy Forum to bring together pharmacies across the region in order to share best practice and work towards a standardised approach for delivering pharmacy services.


GILLIAN LANNON, LLOYDSPHARMACY, DENNY


Gillian has worked in various Glasgow/Lanarkshire/Forth Valley community pharmacies for the last fi fteen years and has built herself a fantastic reputation as a healthcare professional, with the drive and dedication to improve services to the people who need her through well-trained, well- informed, caring teams. Patients at her current pharmacy in Denny regularly attribute their improvement in health to her liaising with other healthcare professionals on their behalf to get the best possible solution for them. Gillian is also a good support to her area manager, providing advice and information when clinical details are required. She is also giving of both her and her team’s time and helps out in other branches when they have staffi ng needs.


GORDON WALKER, LINDSAY & GILMOUR, GRANGEMOUTH


Gordon started his career with an ambition to provide the best healthcare services to his patients. He has gained vital knowledge in the provision of fl u clinics, palliative care, ORT, smoking cessation and also gained an insight into upcoming changes and information in pharmacy by gaining a seat within NHS Forth Valley’s Area Pharmaceutical Committee, which forms the board’s advisory panel for opinions on new developments and changes within pharmacy. Gordon has also fully embraced a new way of working within the pharmacy by empowering his new NVQ2s and ACT to run and manage the dispensary, freeing up his time to further serve the community.
